Director Professional Developement
Esmarie Strydom is the Director of Professional Development in the Centre for Teaching and Learning at the North-West University in South Africa. She is experienced in the field of curriculum development, learning programme design and development of teaching in higher education. She has more than twenty years of experience in higher education lecturing, student supervision, programme management and seven years of experience in the field of academic development in higher education.
She has served on a number of national quality review panels, teaching and learning forums and task teams. Her research interests range from blended learning design and development, quality assurance and quality enhancement, supporting continuous professional development for lecturers and mentoring in academic development.
Her current work includes providing strategic direction, pedagogic guidance and support for the professional development of academics as teachers, the design and development of induction and mentoring programmes, the initiation and management of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning projects, and the management and coordination of teaching awards and recognition at the institution. She also Initiates and supports faculty interventions to improve the quality of teaching which leads to improved student success
