Jonathan Hunt teaches public speaking and composition courses in the Department of Rhetoric and Language at the University of San Francisco. He also teaches courses focused on the first-year experience, such as a first-year seminar and USF 101: Expedition USF. His courses are activity-based and student-centered, focused on fostering students’ intellectual curiosity and rhetorical agency. Of particular interest to Professor Hunt are questions of credibility and authenticity in communication.
He is co-director of USF’s Seeley Center for Teaching Excellence, which supports USF’s strong commitment to fostering exceptional teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Prof. Hunt has been at USF since 2012, and has served as co-director of the Seeley Center for Teaching Excellence since 2016. Prior to coming to USF, he taught at Santa Clara University, where he also served as associate editor of the flagship NCTE journal College English, and at Stanford University, where he served as associate director the Program in Writing and Rhetoric from 2010 to 2012.
