Marina G. Smitherman has served as the Director of the Center for Academic Excellence at Dalton State College for the past three years. She holds a D.Phil (PhD) from the University of Oxford, England and has been teaching at the college level for the past fifteen years. She has chaired the Georgia Consortium of Teaching and Learning Directors, as an AAC&U Associate and a liaison for the Council of Undergraduate Research. She has provided workshops on the following topics: Ensuring Quality with High Impact Practices, Transparency in Teaching and Learning, Reflective Practice, Active Learning, Designing Experiential Learning Courses, and Critical topics in Faculty Development.
