Nandini Bhattacharya is a Continuing Lecturer in Mathematics at UC Santa Cruz. She has received several teaching honors including the UC Santa Cruz Academic Senate Excellence in Teaching Award in 2011-2012; the Chancellor’s Achievement in Diversity Award in 2013; the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Hero Award; and the National Science Foundation Presidential Award for Excellence in STEM in 1999. She has partnered with the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Initiatives team to redesign Math gateway courses to better serve students from underserved or under-represented backgrounds. Nandini has worked her entire career on issues around access and equity specifically related to Mathematics. Her work at the CITL is part of her continued effort to promote equity on campus.
