Susana Gonçalves, PhD in Psychology by the University of Coimbra is Coordinating Professor at the Polytechnic of Coimbra and Director of the Centre for the Study and Advancement of Pedagogy in Higher Education (CINEP). She is a researcher at the Research Unit for Education and Training (University of Lisbon) and she teaches in the area of Educational Psychology and Intercultural Education. She is a member of Children’s Identity and Citizenship in Europe Association, where she has served as Secretary General since 2007.  She has a long experience of work with higher education in the fields of education, psychology and intercultural communication. She is a member of the Comparative Study Group in Interculturality (CSGI/GECI) (Grupo de Estudos Comparados em Interculturalidade of the SEC-SPCE (Comparative Education Section of the Portuguese Society of Educational Science) since its creation in 2014. Her present research interest are focused on the advancement of teaching and learning in Higher education, Multimedia and education and Art and Intercultural Education. Some of her most recent works are the edited books Art and intercultural dialogue (Sense, 2016), The challenges of diversity and intercultural encounters (2013, Routledge) and Intercultural Policies and Education (2011, Peter Lang).
